CAN'T MARCH OR CANVASS? You can still make a huge difference! Take action!
CAN'T MARCH OR CANVASS? You can still make a huge difference! Take action!

Updated 3/14/26

There is so much we can all do to help without marching or canvassing. Remember, you can't wring your hands while you are rolling up your sleeves!

Oppose the new rule shielding DOJ lawyers from accountability.

Pam Bondi proposed a rule that DOJ lawyers representing the government can't be held legally responsible by state bar association.

Use the script below or make it your own.

"I am a concerned citizen who cares deeply about preserving the rule of law and upholding the integrity of our democratic principles, I strongly oppose this new rule, because it will diminish accountability for misconduct by government lawyers. I believe that all lawyers — but most especially — lawyers representing the United States should be held to the highest standards of ethics and professionalism. They must be subject to oversight by independent authorities like state bar associations. The Justice Department cannot be trusted to police itself. This proposed rule would allow the Attorney General to interfere with independent state bar investigations. That will greatly harm the integrity of our justice system and allow misconduct to go unnoticed and unpunished."

Join Swing Left for a virtual Ground Truth phone bank, an innovative new program that is revolutionizing how we connect with overs on the phone. Wednesdays and Sundays 1-4pm.

Text Banking Opportunities: Texting is the best way to get to the 42%! of 18-24 year old voters who weren't registered to vote in 2024. These are virtual text banking events you can do from your home with a computer or phone.

Human Rights Campaign Texas Texting: Voter confusion is rampant across Texas, especially with early and off-cycle elections. That’s where you come in. Join on Zoom at 5pm CT every week to drive change through digital organizing. They'll provide training and discuss the latest texting campaign. A basic zoom account is required to register.

Contact Target

From Jess Craven: Target has officially sent the police to clear peaceful protestors out of its stores in MN. These protestors were doing sit-ins to demand that Target stop being complicit with ICE. Let’s contact them and tell them how disappointed we are with them. Let them know you won't be shopping there until they reverse their policies. Call 800-440-0680 or email them at guest.service@target.com

Sign the Petition to Unmask ICE: ICE’s anonymity is enabling their murderous abuse. Sign this petition demanding that Congress force ICE to take off their masks.

SNAP GAP Action from Interfaith Action of Evanston: Interfaith Action has identified a need at the food pantries for garbage bags. For February they are collecting any brand of 13-gallon garbage bags. They will be distributed on Wednesday, February 25, at the Vineyard Food Pantry. To donate, you can drop them off at: Trinity Lutheran Church, 3637 Golf Rd., Evanston, Mon.-Thurs. 10am-4pm.

Drop off food donations: Prairie Moon, 1635 Chicago Ave., is the newest place to donate food in Evanston for Connections for the Homeless. Evanston Community Fridges are also great places to drop off food donations for the community!

Donate to the Evanston Community Cares Mutual Aid Action Fund

The community still needs care and support after the devastating "Midway Blitz" campaign that targeted (and is still targeting) the Latino community and others. Their goal is to raise $2 million to be shared by 5 organizations: Evanston Latinos, Evanston Community Fridges, Sanctuary Evanston, plus D65 and D202 (for school counselors to provide gift card support to families for emergency food and essentials). Donate here through the Evanston Community Foundation.

You'll get a biweekly newsletter outlining how you can help your neighbors.
